By consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad was incorporated in 1993 as a subsidiary of Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (Brunei Islamic Trust Fund). Its main initial role was to provide services and manage the welfare of the people of Brunei when performing Hajj.
Until the year 1996, Brunei Darussalam through Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad has invested in the development of 4 hotel properties in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia namely Shubaikah Hotel, As Salam Hotel and Ajyad Hotel located in Makkah Al Mukkarramah and Taibah Hotel located in Madinah Al Munawwarah. These hotels have been used not only by Hajj pilgrims from Brunei Darussalam, but it also served pilgrims from all over the world.
In its efforts, to diversify its products and services, Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad introduced its first umrah package in 1997.
In 2001, Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad introduced travel and tours products and services which include airline reservation and ticketing, worldwide hotel reservations as well as providing inbound and outbound tour packages.
At present, Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and an authorized agent for various international airlines which includes, Royal Brunei Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways.
Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad also continues to be unique in the products and services it offers by introducing travel products with an Islamic concept such as our China Muslim Tour and Korea Muslim Tour which has been very popular. These packages enables all our clients especially the Muslim not only enjoy their holiday but also have the peace of mind of having halal meals.
